Life leading up to Michigan FC chairman talks about life as a kid, growing up in Iraq, US and playing football / soccer.
In addition to the CLR Academy team, University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University football players, Michigan FC coaches were present for the duration of the kickoff event to play with the kids and give back to the local community.
It’s known majority of Michigan FC are engineers and carry that pride on and off the field, Michigan FC will be supporting local schools in STEM robotics program to get kids to excel both on and off the soccer pitch.
Not all soccer fields are leveled evenly, the same can be said for minority run soccer clubs, Michigan FC is here to level the playing field for those who can’t afford it with strong support from our community partners and supporters.
Michigan FC has been around for a few years now and has quickly established itself as a community leader as our impact on the community has grown. As a non-profit organization, our mission has always been to provide value by helping those in our community.
Michigan FC will be offering local youth community members opportunity winter training for free for K-12 start November to March of 2020.
Where soccer meets engineer is where Michigan FC roots started. A profile into Michigan FC coach as engineer and the importance of establishing the relationships where information is being passed back and forth freely helps make better end products. The end product is our future youth and engineering world meets.
The Michigan Football Club (Michigan FC) is a unique nonprofit organization established in 2017 by Iraqi American Engineer Abbas Al-Wishah, to helps many kids through soccer program and education to stay clear of drugs and crime. Al-wishah is an Iraqi native who came to the U.S. in 1993 after the Persian Gulf War when he was 9 years old. He is an Iraqi refugee that turned struggles into success through his education journey from Elementary School in Erie, PA all way up to Wayne State University, Detroit MI, which he earned his B.S and M.S in Electrical Computer Engineering.
Larry O’Connor from the Detroit News took the time to get to know Coach Abbas and the Michigan FC program, and published “Dearborn-based nonprofit soccer program caters to refugee children” in May of 2018. A lot has changed since then as we continue to grow our footprint in the community but we appreciate the help in spreading the word about our work.
